Hallston Valley Farm Stud Profile

Quality stud stock for Wiltshire Horns at Hallston Valley Farm VIC

Hallston Valley Farm runs a registered Wiltshire Horn stud (#319). In fact we operate the biggest Wilshire Horn stud in Victoria! We are Ovine Brucellosis accredited and have a Johnes free and fully vaccinated flock.

We muscle scan our sheep to make breeding and culling decisions. This ensures we are improving the meat production quality of our flock each year. We conduct genetic testing through Lincoln University in New Zealand and breed from rams which carry the highest ratings for cold tolerance and foot rot tolerance.

We are proud winners of interbreed and blue ribbons from some of the biggest shows in Victoria includong Australian Sheep and Wool Show, Korumburra Show, Lang Lang, Royal Melbourne Show, Victorian Sheep Show, Berwick Show and the Bendigo Agricultural Show.

At Hallston Valley Farm our breed objectives are to produce Wiltshire Horns which are true to the breed standard, This includes confirmation and structural correctness, good pigment, black feet and full shedding abilities. We aim to get highly productive growth rates without compromising the eating qualities of our meat, we produce grass fed lambs and hogget for a local, direct to consumer market.

We aim to use minimal chemicals in our lambs for the table. This includes no:

  • Glyphosate, chemical or synthetic fertilisers

  • Minimal drenches and antibiotics

  • Only essential vaccines

  • Minimal food miles

We pride ourselves on animal welfare standards including providing pain relief for castration and tail docking of lambs. We have daughter studs across Victoria.
