Farming For Fun

Farming for fun - farm experiences at Hallston Valley Farm

Want to relax and soak it all up? We have fish in our dams, wildlife in abundance and lots of fruit you can pick (mainly from December to May). Go for a bushwalk/hike, look for our resident eagles, wallabies, wombats, koalas, kangaroos, deer, reptiles and more! Pick fruit from our 80 trees, depending on the season enjoy plums, pears, apples, quiches, peaches, nectarines, feijoas, mulberries, blackberries and citrus.

In February and March you could pick wild blackberries for days and days! Fish for native silver perch and Gippsland eels in our well stocked dams. You might even get to ride Taffy or Morgan (our horses/ponies) or our Quad or ag bike depending on your age and skill level.

What to bring/wear:

  • Your camera - you never know what you will see.

  • Buckets or boxes for your fruit and fish

  • Long pants and boots – we have the usual mix of outdoor nasties

  • We can supply fish rods, hooks and bait

  • Water

What you can do:

  • Visit the chickens, collect eggs and feed the chickens and chicks (seasonally) 

  • Fruit picking in orchard (seasonally) 

  • Visit and feed the alpacas – Comet and Oscar 

  • Pat and feed the sheep 

  • Feed and cuddle a calf (seasonally) and cows

  • Pat and feed the horses

  • Feed the fish and ducks in the dam 

  • Take a ute ride or short walk to see amazing views, streams and fern gullies 

  • Spy any wildlife – including koalas, wombats, echidnas, eagles, blue tongue lizards, wallabies, kangaroo and deer

  • Lots of photo opportunities! 

  • Light refreshments included
