Farm Experiences for NDIS Clients

Farming experiences for NDIS clients - farm experiences at Hallston Valley Farm

Typical Half Day (3 hour) Program:

  • Meet and greet in the garden for goal setting and get to know you chat

  • Visit the chickens, collect eggs and feed the chickens and chicks (seasonally) 

  • Fruit picking in orchard (seasonally) 

  • Visit and feed the alpacas – Comet and Oscar 

  • Pat and feed the sheep 

  • Feed and cuddle a calf (seasonally) and cows

  • Pat and feed the horses

  • Feed the fish and ducks in the dam 

  • Take a ute ride or short walk to see amazing views, streams and fern gullies 

  • Spy any wildlife – including koalas, wombats, echidnas, eagles, blue tongue lizards, wallabies, kangaroo and deer

  • Lots of photo opportunities! 

  • Light refreshments included

Typical Full Day (5-6 hour) Program:

  • Everything in the half day package plus:

    • Drafting or moving sheep 

    • Brush the horses and learn how to halter and lead a horse safety – more horse activities can be arranged on request 

    • Lamb lunch at the farm house

    • Farmer Q&A

    • Hunt for tadpoles and frogs in the wetlands (seasonally)

    • Moving meditation session or facial yoga (20-30 minutes) run by a local accredited practitioner 

    • Get hands on and help with other suitable farm activities that are ongoing on the day 

    • Even more photo opportunities!

Accessibility and FAQ

  • Ample, secure parking is available for cars and buses

  • Farm tracks are easily accessible for strollers, motorised scooters and wheelchairs

  • Two bathrooms are available for visitors 

  • A private room, separate to the house is available if required for any reason 

  • All activities are coordinated by a farmer or experienced farming operator 

  • Cool, fresh, clean water is available at the farm for drinking for all visitors and clients. Tea and coffee is also available in the farm house. 

  • The lunch menu can be adjusted for any dietary needs, typically it will consist for salad and meat – lamb sausages, chops or burgers and bread 

  • A fun and relaxed environment is guaranteed! 

  • All farm animals and activities can be photographed and posted on social media

  • No age limits on any farm activities 

  • Activities can be adjusted to suited particular client needs or requests 

  • Some activities and animals are seasonal – for example baby lambs are only on the farm from August to October.  

  • Some activities may be changed based on weather conditions

  • All activities are subject to change or substitution
